5 stars (Buy this one first) - Even though I have both the "in Brief" and the unabridged editions, it is only the "in Brief" edition that I take with me to my meetings. I recommend that you buy and read the "in Brief" edition first. 5 stars (User-friendly meeting guide) - This has to be the most user-friendly book I've seen, starting with the inside of the front cover. It says, "If you only have 30 minutes" then read certain chapters. Somehow these experts figured out what the rest of us would need to know and how we would be looking for it. Maybe they had a panel of non-experts to critique. There are chapters detailing what the words are that you use to make something happen and how to use those words. Best of all, everywhere you look there are copious examples. In the back are succinct tables of those same words and there is also a chapter on how to find the completely complete information on the topic in the big "Robert's" book Most of the book is concerned with what you need to know as a member of the group. There are separate chapters for an officer of the group, which contain the things that most of us don't need to know. This is not a book you'd save for a winter evening curled up in front of the fireplace. It's to tell you all sorts of things you'd really rather not have to know, but that you really need to know. Spanish Complete- The Complete Language Course - 3 Level Set Learn in Your Car

5 stars (Excellent for beginner or refresher course) - This course is excellent, either as an introduction to Spanish or as a way to refresh or sharpen your skills if you are already somewhat familiar with it. There are three levels, and each level consists of three 60-minute CDs. (You can buy each level separately, but getting the whole set is cheaper than buying each level separately.) Each CD is sub-divided into 10 or 11 small lessons presenting a single topic. The first lessons start with very simple vocabulary, then later lessons progress to simple phrases using that vocabulary, then simple sentences in the present tense, then more advanced vocabulary and phrases, and then the most common verb tenses and moods (present, past, future, compound tenses (I HAVE GONE), conditional (I WOULD GO IF . . . ), imperative (GO AWAY!), and subjunctive (I DOUBT THAT HE'LL GO.). The range of subject matter also expands gradually. The first level covers what might be called "survival skills," the really basic topics you need to know right away, like transportation, money, directions, hotels, restaurants, shopping, telling time, and numbers. Later lessons, especially in the second and third levels, include more advanced vocabulary, more complex sentences, and more complex situations. All lessons use the same methodology - the target word, phrase, or sentence is given in English, followed by a pause for your response, then the Spanish translation is given, followed by another pause, followed by a repetition of the Spanish translation and another pause. So for each target word, phrase, or sentence, you'll have three chances to say it in Spanish; and I can tell you from personal experience that this constant repetition works very well. Playing the CDs in your car or while jogging (my personal favorite), is a painless but effective way to learn a new language or review a previously learned language. Psychology- Sixth Edition

3 stars (BEWARE: paperback edition and hardcover are different books!) - Actually I'm reviewing the paperback edition; Amazon has a bug in this one. I wanted to buy the "text book" of Psychology so I checked the hardcover, there in the tab "other editions" I noticed a paperback edition (which was $100 cheaper) so i followed the link, after reading the reviews and "looking inside the book" I decided to buy the paperback edition (the reviews and the "look inside the book" were supposedly for the paperback edition). The problem was when I received the book... it wasn't the book but the "study guide" (which is worthless without the book) I went back to Amazon and checked carefully and alas when I went to the paperback edition there is a slight change in the title (which one doesn't check again because it's supposed to be the same book) but the reviews and everything else is the same which is VERY misleading. I already sent them an e-mail asking them to change this, but for the meantime be careful. P.S: I rated with 3 stars because I had to put something I'll fix it when I get the hardcover edition and I can actually use it. 5 stars (Text for Honors Introductory Psychology) - I've used the text for my honors section of Psych 101 and as a source for lecture material in my other sections. IMHO, this the the best textbook for Intro Psych that I have ever come across in terms of the depth of material presented. It is, however, probably too difficult for the large lecture hall sections or sections taught entirely by graduate students. For these sections I would recommend David Myers' textbook. Much more student-friendly, and still an excellent source of information. Fridlund, et al., is still the gold standard. 5 stars (Outstanding, comprehensive "intro." book.) - This introduction text represents a "tour de force" in dealing with a complex subject. 5 stars (Good book!) - really useful if you are a backyard tinkerer and if not this is a cool little bedside book to browse through 5 stars (Perfect book for inventors and makers) - This is a dictionary for basic mechanical engineering. Schools have ruined physics and engineering by drowning the core material in math. This book is a simple "I need this motion to cause that motion handbook." If you are familiar with Arthur Ganson's sculpture, you will find many of the common joints he uses in this book. [...] I'm in electronics, and I needed a little bit of help with gears and adapting motion from motors, and this book is perfect. If you need to calculate torque or really get into the math of things get a textbook (or a real mechanical engineer). But if you like to tinker this book will open up your imagination to many different solutions. For the price you can't beat it. 5 stars (If this doesn't get you thinking....) - ...you must be dead. Simply a gem of a book. I've bought modern copies on two separate occasions to make sure I have it on hand, and I recently was lucky enough to find an 1879 copy. Apparently it was published in 1868, and by 1879 it was already into its 12th printing- couldn't happen unless a lot of people found it really useful. Buy a copy- you definitely won't regret it. ...
