Iris Party

Iris Party presented as Windows screen saver which builds and shows (almost?) unlimited number of 3d-animated motion pictures. And we absolutely do not let you think of it as about a screen saver. After you try to build your own animation or make some changes to existing examples you will understand what it means. Attention - building process is highly addictive! If you start to, you will do it again and again...

Emotional Intelligence - Why It Can Matter More Than IQ

5 stars (Neurology of emotions) - This book does an excellent job of explaining how the brain is overpowered by emotions. You also learn that if you are in an extreme state of emotional arousal, your rational ability is impaired. To deal with emotions, I strongly recommend Rosalene Glickman's book, Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self and the Optimal thinking emotional mastery wallet cards. In the Optimal thinking resources, you receive a clear explanation of each emotion, why they are caused and how to be deal with each troublesome emotion. You are provided with questions to understand and resolve them. Both of these books are excellent. 4 stars (Good overview of how emotions affect - and sometimes rule - our lives) - I suppose I was first interested in this book, which has been around quite some time now, by the often quoted assertion that emotional intelligence - EQ - is now more important to career development and job performance than IQ. What I found was a good explanation of how humans are affected and sometimes governed by their emotions. The book is one of an interesting genre - popular social science, a bit like the work of Malcolm Gladwell - and I must admit it had me gripped to start with. By the end of the book, I was a bit over it, because it tends to look at how EQ can be boosted in kids and obviously being a fully-grown adult I was interested to know how I could boost my own EQ and in doing so boost my chances of early promotion, unfathomed success and early retirement. The book is pretty good at explaining the process of emotional reactions and I love the phrase "emotional hijacking" - when our emotions take over. I suppose the real value in this book is understanding as a whole how your brain works and what exactly your emotions are. If this has contributed anything to my quality of life, it is probably the realisation of how emotions follow patterns and how simple facial gestures, such as rolling your eyes, can trigger an adverse r...

Mind Over Mood- Change How You Feel by Changing the Way You Think

1 stars (Wasted Space) - I was very disappointed with the content and layout of this book. The amount of wasted pages for 'workspace' is excessive, but considering the lack of true content, I assume they needed to fill pages with something. 5 stars (Purchased by Spouses Group) - Our spouses group purchased this item to donate it to a Psycology Clinic at our local hospital. The clinic was very excited to receive it since they specifically requested this book. 5 stars (powerful, easy tools conquer depression/anxiety) - After years in therapy and various methods (Freudian, Jungian, etc.), it was finally Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that helped me stop the negative, worrying (a facet of anxiety) voices that blared incessantly in my mind. I can not recommend this book enough. Its simple exercises will have you seeing the fallacy of your thoughts, which are what determine your mood. The book (and CBT's) superbly simplistic idea is that your THOUGHTS are what control your MOODS. Control your thoughts, and you control your moods. But before we can do this, we have to slow down enough to take the time to see where our thoughts are coming from. This book and its exercises help us find where we are simply WRONG in the thoughts we have about ourselves which lead to depressed or anxious mood. These exercises will help you determine your "hot thoughts," (automatic thoughts you hold about yourself that are linked to depressed/anxious mood), will help you examine evidence for and against your thoughts, and then help you use this evidence to create NEW THOUGHTS which ought to in turn help you create NEW MOODS. These techniques are amazingly simple but also incredibly powerful. If you feel stuck in "talk therapy" analysis and can not seem to change the way you think about yourself, this book is for you! However, you should also seek a trained COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST to teach you the techniques to literally CHANGE your thought process. Anxiety and depression are ...

The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book - Everything You Need to Know to Put Your EQ to Work

4 stars (Managers & above: please read!) - If you don't know the difference between your I.Q. and your E.Q. and how much it matters in the workplace, then read this book--especially if you're a supervisor, manager, director or CEO. There's even an on-line test to see how you rate. Run--don't walk--and get this book. Better yet: order it right now on Amazon :-) (Your employees will thank you!) 5 stars (Fabulous Read) - This is the most thought-provoking book I've read in a long time. Without being simplistic, it introduced me to so many interesting things I could use to my benefit. Being intellectually smart is surely a strong advantage in our society, but it doesn't say nearly as much as your control and awareness over your own emotions. Have you ever wondered why you have emotions, how your brain works to process them, and how you can use them to your own advantage? I've never read a book that so clearly explains how it all works and what to do with it. 5 stars (Tremendous) - I wasn't familiar with the authors, but bought the book after reading the description and the amazing endorsements from the Dalai Lama and Stephen Covey. I was not disappointed! The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book explains and explores via great stories and profound research. It's fun to read and has an enormous variety of invaluable, fact-based information which helped me with relationships and my career. ...

Primal Leadership- Realizing the Power of Emotional Intelligence

4 stars (Great book! ) - This book is very well written and will keep your interest. The book covers some very important facets of leadership mainly: integrity, ethics, trust, and other peoples feelings. If you are reading this review and you don't really know why those factors are keystones to leadership then this book would be a good addition to your leadership skills. If leadership were a pie this book would be several slices but not the whole pie. For an in-depth look at leadership read the army field manual for leadership. 5 stars (Primal Leadership) - The book by Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatzis and Anne Mc Kee is a wonderful study on all modern leadership styles, and how to learn how to lead with Emotional Intelligence. Several cases are presented, on worldwide and US companies, providing us with the best and thorough analysis on how to achieve the highest performance, by focusing on the diverse aspects of Emotional Intelligence. I believe it is a must for top executives, managers and counsellors from Organizations, and for all of those seeking to improve their emotional skills, be them focused on job or on life improvement. 2 stars (Too stretching) - I really liked Dan Goleman's previous books on Emotional Intelligence (EI). Goleman's article on "Primal Leadership" appeared in Harvard Business Review (HBR) a few years ago. His book version of primal leadership is a little too stretching. If you are not keen on reading the not-so-interesting details, I would recommend the article version in HBR, which gives a very good synopsis of the book. ...

Excuse Me- Your Life Is Waiting- The Astonishing Power of Feelings

2 stars (Unimpressive) - If you have read one or two self-help books, you might find some good information here. But, if you are savvy, you will be disenchanted with the simplistic, airy fairy fluff. If you want to understand the message behind each feeling and how to resolve troublesome feelings, I recommend Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self. I recommend Emotional Intelligence to understand the neurological basis of emotions. 4 stars (A Sunnyside) - I really enjoyed this book. It's a fast read. Just by reading it I was able to increase my joy and happiness by following some very simple suggestions. I am a holistic healer and found this book to be inspirational and useful to myself as well as my clients. 1 stars (One decent chapter, the rest sheer drivel.) - The last chapter of this book has some good ideas for positive thinking for yourself. The rest of the book will infuriate you, because she claims that EVERYTHING bad that happens is our own fault because we have negative feelings about other things. If you accept that premise as it applies to you and you alone, it's one thing--for example, you made some bad choices in life and now you have no money, have an addiction or have some other issues. But to say that it's your fault you were rear-ended on the freeway because your negative feelings attracted the person who rear-ended you.....good grief. And world tragedies, too, are all caused by negative feelings--just an asinine opinion on her part. Even her examples of what to do didn't come across as realistic. If you apply what she says, you *should* be able to "feel" yourself thin. But even she says you have to still go to the gym and work out. The author's first book, Beyond the Twelve Steps, thanks in the "Acknowledgments" people who "channel" such "beings" as Seth, Ramtha, Zarathustra, Mafu, and Rajni. That tells you right there where she's coming from. They are *not* mentioned in this book, but by the way she mentions God here and there, it ...
